Chunky Knits!

I never used to be a fan of the way chunky knits looked on me but since every winter I crave wearing them I knew it was time to go back to the dressing room on this one. I've learned the trick is in the cut & fit (like with everything in life! :) I was able to walk away with this one from Mango since the sleeves and shoulder area is nicely fitted and the longer length coupled with a heavier weight knit helps it to drape well on me.

I'm a huge fan of nude heels! These are pretty intricate in the front and I loved the way they played off of the texture of the sweater.

Have a great weekend!

Spring to Winter...Maybe?

Sometimes in fashion you need to take risks.

The Details:

Admittedly I might take more then my fair share but it stemmed from a good place. This gold top has been a steady piece in my wardrobe all through Spring and Summer so it's only natural that I would investigate the possibility of it living on through the Winter season. I'm not entirely sure it worked in this specific reincarnation but given that I went an entire day in it in the real world, I only thought it fair of me to share it here with you.

What do you think? #EpicFail or #ItWorks?

Sweater Time

With the weather starting to turn cold here I've turned my efforts to some sweater shopping. Here's one from Mango that I'm loving right now.

Having fun :)

Fantasy Finds!

a I b I c I d

Wow, these colors are hitting me straight on! I'm loving the clean, fresh and modern feel of these prick forks contrasted with the bold colorful latte bowls! Throw in the patterned china and you've got me rethinking my color scheme and palette of my kitchen (sorry Honey!)

The perfect pick me up for Tuesday morning. Hope you enjoy :)

Fresh Starts

After doing a few Google searches for "clearing clutter" & "getting rid of clutter" I had a breakthrough about the clutter in my house. After trying for my entire adult life to understand the mechanisms that contributed to people being 'neat freaks' or messy and desperately trying to re-train myself from the latter to the former I feel like today I took a major step in this process just by having this breakthrough.

JUST DO IT.

There, that's my breakthrough. So I got up, went to the second bedroom (that I'm trying to turn into my little guys bedroom/playroom) and just picked something up and instead of saying "do I need this?" I said "have I used this?" It's definitely not easy to get rid of something that looks useful and promises you all kinds of things (I will organize your paper if you use me, I'm a cool gadget for when you need to weigh your luggage...) but it turns out that the feeling of being free is more rewarding!

The Great 2012 Organization Challenge!

I'm always optimistic about the ability for people to change and better themselves! It's so much more fun to believe you can change and become a better version of yourself then wallow in the thought that you are stuck in your flaws and weaknesses. I'm forever wanting to change the things I don't like about myself. I could bore you with what that long list is but I won't you're welcome.

The other day I saw a friend posted as their Facebook status that they are going to read 100 pages a day for 100 days and that got me thinking that it would be fun to also take on something for 100 days. Somehow 100 days seems manageable to me in a way that New Year's Resolutions don't, there is just something totally overwhelming about an entire year for a "can't follow through" girl like me. With all that being said you are just going to have to wait to hear about my 100 day challenge since I picked up this book today :)

"One Year to an Organized Life" by Regina Leeds

And while I don't intend to make this a New Year's resolution (I just don't like the label) I do intend to follow through with this book and see if I can finally achieve what I so desperately crave, a clean organized home and a zen like life.

Looking forward to starting tomorrow!

Update { I went on to the Apartment Therapy site just now (ps. must visit more often, love it!) and saw this post...

it must be on everybody's mind! :)

Little Blue Box(es)

I've been a connoisseur of Tiffany's since I was 3 years old and even though my 'grown up' aesthetics range to a more modern bold look (think David Yurman, Ippolita and a hundred other lines I'm obsessed with!), I can' deny the pull of the robin eggs blue of the classic box. I took a little peak in a local Tiffany's store yesterday and picked up some small gifts for myself.

I hope you are having a fabulous Tuesday!

Why Read Vogue When You Can Wear It!

Photobucket
I just came across this amazing line

Photobucket

How incredible are her creations? I could stare at them all day. And since I don't ever throw away my magazines (I could re-read them forever!) this seems like the perfect way for me to recycle them!

One new(ish) ball gown coming up. I guess I just need a place to wear one now.... :)

As hard as it is to choose, I think this one is my favorite! I love the colors and the silhouette!

The detailing is perfection!

Run and check out Ecoterre who tipped me off to this paper fairy!

Images that Inspire

via
Even though it's not my personal taste (the dark paneled walls & boat chandelier) I'm finding this living room of designer Nanett Lepore totally inspiring. Maybe it's the bold use of color & combination of styles or just the very fact that it's not a look I would think of for my own home but regardless of the why, I'm completely inspired...and I hope you are too!

Here are some more shots from her home:

I think I'm in love with the use of the citron color in both images! And the perfection she achieved with the drapes!
