Fashion Fridays ~ Great ads!

For the last post of this year (GASP!) I wanted to share two ads from the December issue of Instyle magazine {as you know from here it's one of my 3 all time favorite magazines} that I thought were just beautiful and spoke loud to this 'pretty things/great ads' loving girl :)

While we're on the topic was I the only one who thought someone was out to sabotage Carrie Underwood. Um..maybe I should explain that one....
The cover photo was one of the least flattering photos of her I've ever seen in my opinion!!

carrie underwood, instyle magazine december 2010
InStyle December 2010
Since when does flat hair look good on any country music star let alone Carrie? Haha - no but seriously it's just not a look that I would pick for her (full disclaimer: I'm a HUGE country music fan so occasional joke on their behalf allowed)
But back to the main issue, these two ads were featured in this month's issue and I just loved them for the visual punch they threw.

Coach Holiday 2010 Bags
Coach Holiday 2010 campaign
I loved the blues, the silver and all the sparkle of this ad. Not to mention these bags look right up my alley, especially the two large ones in the back.

Miss Dior Cherie
The bright colors with the grey background and white boxes is stunningly striking! Coupled with the captivating look on her face I feel as though I could be in Paris right now!
P.s - I thought it only appropriate to share this last image with you. Since we're talking about beautiful ads and a Carrie this is very fitting....hehehe
Get Carried Away
No matter how lame that line was I thought it was pure genius! :)

Happy Holidays and if I don't see you before the new year Happy New Years!

On Everybody's Mind

Resolutions people,
although if you were thinking ice cream & chocolate you wouldn't be that far off, for me anyways.
I have been inspired by all you amazing bloggers out there to become a better person & do more this year.
So here is my version of a Project 365. Except it's not me taking a photo a day for a year.
This is what I'm thinking, between now and Saturday (the 1st!!) I will come up with a list of 52 habits & traits I hope to acquire throughout the year & tasks I wish to accomplish.
Something so simple yet so elusive as tidying the house every night before bed to something completely fun & special like taking my little boy's hand & foot prints every month.
I'm hoping that by the end of the year I will not only have accomplished a lot but I will have created habits that can stay with me a lifetime.

While I head to the drawing board to compose my list I leave you with some very fun blogs that focus on taking something on for a year....

Enjoy!

A Year of Slow Cooking

Skull - A - Day

The Uniform Project

A Collection a Day

See you all back here for the big list reveal!
P.s. - taking suggestions for the list, I would love to hear what you think I should have on it or things that will be on your lists!

Have you heard of About.me??

I'm so excited to share this find with you all.

About.me is, well actually let's here it from them in their own words:

We designed about.me for ourselves

A lot of us have multiple online profiles scattered across various services, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Flickr, and Twitter. And one problem we face is pulling all of this information together to build a single on-line identity — be it for personal use, or to create a professional on-line profile. We've focused on enabling you to:

Create your personal splash page

Quickly build a personal and dynamic splash page that points visitors to your content from around the web.

You can build your own profile (fairly basic in look) that has links to all your content online.
All in one easy place.
Here is what my profile looks like:
I'm pretty excited about this concept because frankly I was starting to lose track of me online :) let alone how hard it is for everyone else to remember to visit me in all my various locals (facebook, twitter, blogs, etc..). {You all know how much I love your visits - hehehe :) }
I like to think of it as the perfect virtual business card.
All your info, all in one place and no 'friending' or 'poking' anyone....

Dream Dressing ~ New Year's Eve Bash

Happy New Year's (almost) everyone!

I for one cannot begin to fathom how it is 2011 already! It feels like just yesterday when we were all trying to figure out how we were going to refer to 2010. Two Ten? Twenty Ten? Two Thousand and Ten?
Well, linguistics aside here's an outfit to ring in the new year with. I didn't want to go with the typical gold or silver for New Year's so I thought a nice jolt of electric blue would be perfect!
Party up!

Happy New Years

We Interrupt this Broadcast.....

for BREAKING NEWS!!!

Go, Walk, RUN over to Megan's blog Honey We're Home
I have truly enjoyed reading and getting to know Megan, her family and her beautiful home on her blog. I would definitely say it's my first read everyday. Actually if I'm being honest I think her blog inspired me to start one of my own. Thanks Megan!

Anyways back to this special announcement.
Megan is running an amazing GIVEAWAY for a Silhouette SD Machine
Go check it out here and enter (there are 6 different ways to enter!!)
And here's hoping one of us wins :)

Motherhood Mondays ~ I bought something on this list, eek!

While there are many lists I would love to see myself and mine on ( Vanity Fair's International Best Dressed List, World's Best Mom, Supermodel Wives..should I go on?) {no links for the other lists since I made them up but enjoy all the beautiful people and fabulous fashion on VF's best dressed list and no I didn't make it this year, trying for next} this list definitely WASN'T one of them.

Introducing Parenting dot coms

Ridiculous Parenting Products List photo gallery

Now I imagine the question running through your head is how can this impossibly chic wonderful mom (moi) be associated with this list and what ridiculous product did she purchase?

No

(he's a boy, not saying I wouldn't consider if I have a little princess one day, hehehe)

No

Was it the Sonogram Cufflinks
No.

It was....Ta Dah

Tummy Tub
While very funny looking I don't think it deserves a spot on this list but nevertheless on this list it is.
{set the scene: Ruthie in front of computer fairly late at night}
Imagine my shock when I'm clicking through this photo gallery laughing at all these ridiculous products (oh there are more dear friends, can I interest you in a Placenta Teddy Bear?) people buy for their kids congratulating myself on being such a practical parent when there it was staring back at me from the screen. The bathtub I had just purchased for the lil' one. First came 'EEEEK', then came 'Oh the SHAME'!!
And then I got over it.

Oh well we can't win them all can we (and by that I mean can't win them ever, see above lists that I'm NOT on)

P.s - My thoughts/review on the Tummy Tub coming soon to a post near you

Nails & Nap Time

Big YAY!! on both accounts although to be fair I have no idea which I'm more excited about.
I started a bedtime routine with my lil' one and it's worked miracles. The other night I actually got a babysitter and went out after putting the baby to bed. An additional perk is that he is slowly learning to take naps during the day. They are short sunbursts of around 30 min where I can breathe with empty hands (or to be honest it's bathroom, food, take care of dog time but I like the image of a sunburst a little better) {If anyone has any advice on how to get him to start taking fewer but longer naps I would appreciate it!}
Since there is now some down time for me during the course of a day, today (drum roll please!) I painted my nails. As you can see from here this has been a very futile goal of mine for a looonnnggg time.
I have to admit inspiration hit from seeing Lisa of Stilettos and Diaper Bags with fabulous looking nails here and here. Thanks Lisa!!

So for today's nail color I went with....

OPI's
Pamplona Purple

that's what I call a good great day!

Dream Dressing ~ Edgy Chic

When it comes to dressing and style I'm like ying and yang. I crave comfort on the inside but seriously desire stylish put together perfection on the outside.
I want to feel like I'm wearing sweat pants but look like I'm wearing (insert favorite designer, brand, trend, here.)
Enter black leggings.
With accessories such as multiple statement rings (btw -great way to look put together but not affect comfort!), red lipstick and a sequined top no one will even care that you are wearing leggings.
You'll just look super stylish and edgy - ka ching!
