What's on my coffee table right now

Notice that this post is not entitled "what I'm reading now," no dear people that post would be very short indeed because as you all know I have a two month old.
So please just enjoy what I wish I was reading now and love to look while it sits on my coffee table:

Magazines:
  • Vanity Fair, December 2010
  • Vogue UK, December 2010 (my husband brought it back from a business trip to London)
  • Instyle UK, December 2010 (see above :) - btw - I prefer the US editions of both mags)
  • Food & Wine, September 2010
Books:
  • Building Better Families, Matthew Kelly - see his website here
  • Woman Power, Dr. Laura Schlessinger - see her website here.
  • The Proper Care and Feeding of Marriage, Dr. Laura Schlessinger
  • The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands, Dr. Laura Schlessinger
I really liked the books by Dr. Laura (Woman Power is a workbook/journal to go with The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands.) The general premise of the two 'Proper Care' books is that men have feelings too and in today's overly feminist world we can't run all over our men and expect them to love and cherish us forever.

Somehow we think it's okay to yell and scream at our husbands and chalk it up to PMS but if they raise their voices at us it's considered grounds for divorce. This book was a wake up call for me and has really helped me to be more aware of my actions and the effect it has on others. ie; I can't scream and rant at my husband and then expect him to open up to me without being afraid of my reaction (let's face it most times I'm afraid of my reactions - crazy hormonal woman!!)

Anyways, enjoy the peek onto my coffee table and into my life, TMI anyone? :)

If you're wondering if I ever get to glance at these books, sometimes after "someone" goes to sleep I'll take a quick peek at one of these books or magazines and the whole time I will have a large clock in my head ticking down till the next feeding and when the baby will wake up and all I can think about are the lost minutes of sleep but sometimes you just need a few minutes to yourself at the end of a long day so yes, sometimes Vogue wins in the battle of Sleep Vs. Me Time.
